Psychologist & Relationship Expert

Dr. Michelle is a Psychologist and expert in many areas including: family and romantic relationships, mental health, stress and coping, women’s health and career development. She has conducted extensive research on the effects of violence in relationships on the mental health and coping skills of children, adolescents and adults. She has also researched the risk factors for teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV and AIDS. Her original research has been published in journals such as the American Journal of Public Health, the Journal of Adolescent Research, The Journal of Adolescence, Violence Against Women and The Leadership Journal. She has presented her research at the national conferences of many professional associations including the American Psychological Association, The Society for Research in Child Development, The Society for Research in Adolescence and the National Council on Family Relations. As an instructor at the University of Michigan, Dr. Michelle taught Introductory and Developmental Psychology courses.  She serves on the Centric Advisory Council and the Board of Directors for Black Girls Rock! Inc.

Dr. Michelle received her Ph.D. and M.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan and her B.A. in Sociology from Boston College.  She was a National Institute of Mental Health Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Yale University.

TYPED, Dr. Michelle teaches women how to be the woman and partner they’re meant to be–through a revealing “What’s Your Type” quiz, uplifting stories from other women, and a “Ms. Typed Makeover” that leads them step-by-step through the process. Dr. Michelle helps women figure out why they seem to have trouble finding appropriate men to date and empowers them to toss their counterproductive dating behaviors out the window. Dr. Michelle’s smart advice is sure to give women a fresh outlook on dating and guide them toward loving, fulfilling relationships.
