Dr. Michelle R. She is the author of Ms. Typed: Stop Sabotaging Your Relationships and Find Dating Success (Three Rivers Press, 2010) and the “Sex and Relationships” advice columnist for Women’s Health Magazine.

While a Vice President at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., Dr. Michelle developed the coaching manuals: The Coaching Conversations Guide for Managers and The Coaching Conversations Guide for Employees to help managers and employees have more successful coaching conversations around topics including 360° feedback, performance reviews, objective setting, mentoring, career management, development planning, difficult conversations and change management. She also collaborated in the development of a corporate-wide coaching training curriculum for managers and human resource professionals including modules on general coaching competencies, goal setting, performance appraisal, 360° feedback, peer coaching, team coaching and career management.
Dr. Michelle is a widely sought after motivational speaker who has delivered keynote speeches at the national conferences of organizations including the National Sales Network, NAACP, Urban League, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the Essence Women’s Leadership Conference. Whether talking to an audience of high school students or Fortune 500 executives, Dr. Michelle is a dynamic speaker who inspires and motivates others to see themselves and their circumstances in a new light. She speaks about and leads workshops on issues ranging from leadership and work-life balance, to life makeovers and finding your calling. Dr. Michelle is a Psychologist and expert in many areas including: family and romantic relationships, mental health, stress and coping, women’s health and career development. She has conducted extensive research on the effects of violence in relationships on the mental health and coping skills of children, adolescents and adults. She has also researched the risk factors for teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV and AIDS. Her original research has been published in journals such as the American Journal of Public Health, the Journal of Adolescent Research, The Journal of Adolescence, Violence Against Women and The Leadership Journal. She has presented her research at the national conferences of many professional associations including the American Psychological Association, The Society for Research in Child Development, The Society for Research in Adolescence and the National Council on Family Relations. As an instructor at the University of Michigan, Dr. Michelle taught Introductory and Developmental Psychology courses.
Dr. Michelle received her Ph.D. and M.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan and her B.A. in Sociology from Boston College. She was a National Institute of Mental Health Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Yale University.
Dr. Michelle’s first book, MS. TYPED: Stop Sabotaging Your Relationships and Find Dating Success, was released in February 2010 from Three Rivers Press. In MS. TYPED, Dr. Michelle teaches women how to be the woman and partner they’re meant to be–through a revealing “What’s Your Type” quiz, uplifting stories from other women, and a “Ms. Typed Makeover” that leads them step-by-step through the process. Dr. Michelle helps women figure out why they seem to have trouble finding appropriate men to date and empowers them to toss their counterproductive dating behaviors out the window. Dr. Michelle’s smart advice is sure to give women a fresh outlook on dating and guide them toward loving, fulfilling relationships. Dr. Michelle is a contributor and the “Sex and Relationships” columnist for Women’s Health magazine.
